Hungry? Short on cash? Come and eat!
Jubilee Cafe offers freshly cooked meals to college students and other local residents who struggle with food insecurity. The cafe is open Mondays from 5 to 6:30 pm.
Since we started Oct 2, Jubilee Café has had an average of 23 volunteers and 37 guests each Monday. Menus include homemade fare from recipes prepared in CUCC’s Commercial kitchen. The average cost of a meal, plus some needed kitchen equipment (new utensils, kitchen scale, paper goods, etc) has been $100/week.
Jubilee Cafe has received two community grants. $500 from Junior League of Champaign County (October 2017)and $1000 from University of Illinois Dads Foundation (November 2017). We continue to receive food weekly from Common Ground Coop through our partnership with DIBBS. The goal of the partnership is to reduce food waste by pairing nonprofit groups like Jubilee Cafe with area grocers and/or restaurants. As a community partner with Eastern Illinois Foodbank, we purchase food at the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. In addition, we receive a weekly donation for bread from Panera to serve in the café. We are very grateful for all of our community partnerships.
