Our Ministry Teams
CUCC is organized into a series of ministry teams, each of which has responsibility for a different aspect of church life. Each team has a representative on the Church Life Board which also includes our church moderator, the previous year’s moderator, the incoming moderator for the upcoming year, the church clerk, and the Lead Pastor.
- Community Building Team
- Pastoral Care – Expressing support, love, and concern to other members of the congregation, including providing food for church attendees and their loved ones when needed.
 - Hospitality – Coordinates the preparation for congregational meetings, fellowship time following services, and other special events.
 - Social Interest – Facilitates the development of interest groups within the church, such as the Pub Theology Group, Breakfast Groups, Retiree’s Luncheon, etc.
 
 - Finance Team
- Treasurer – Disburses funds from the church’s budget and maintains accurate records. The treasurer is responsible for accounts payable.
 - Financial Secretary – Records financial payments to the church and manages financial records
 - Financial Resource Management group – managing budgets
 - Financial Development – manages fundraising and stewardship
 
 - Mission Team
- Welcoming Committee – Helps everyone feel welcome, from new visitors to longtime members
 - Mission/Just Peace – Promotes mission work and justice with peace in our church and wider community.
 - Adult Education – Coordinates adult education opportunities
 - Wider Church – Fosters relationships between CUCC and campus ministry, UCC seminaries, Eastern Association, Illinois Conference, and the General Synod
 
 - Identity Team
- Website Management
 - Social Media Management
 - Advertising Management (Church and other events)
 - Outside Events Management (things like CU Pride Fest, etc.)
 - Promotional research and outreach to achieve further exposure for CUCC
 - Writing, editing, proofreading, photography, and graphic design for CUCC as needed
 
 - Children and Family Ministry Team
- Sunday School – Coordinates Sunday morning church school
 - Youth Group – Coordinates ministries involving Middle School and High School Youth
 - Confirmation – Coordinates confirmation class
 
 - Sound and Ethical Practices
- Building and Grounds – Manages the maintenance and operations of the church buildings and grounds
 - Contracts and Insurance – Manages contracts related to the building use and maintenance, manages church insurance policies, deals with tenant issues between contract events, and tracks security programs running on all church office computers.
 
 - Worship Team
- Worship Leadership – Coordinates the overall worship experience at CUCC
 - Music – Coordinates music offerings, including Chancel Choir, Chime Choir, Children’s Choir, Campus Ministry Choir (on years when interest allows), and other special musicians
 - Funerals – Helps families coordinate funeral arrangements at the church
 - Marriage Coordinator – Coordinates with prospective couples, officiating clergy, and other CUCC commuttees to assure a memorable wedding experience
 
 
There are also 3 standing committees, which operate for particular purposes within the church:
- Nominating Committee – works to fill the leadership positions in the church
 - Pastoral Relations Committee- works to ensure a good relationship between the pastor and the congregation
 - Personnel Committee – works to fill paid positions within the church and to manage those positions
